Funding

Each year, the Institute of Greece, Rome, and the Classical Tradition awards funding for a wide variety of projects generated wholly or in part by members of the University of Bristol, and tied to its core interests; this is out of respect to our donors who provide financial support.

Applications are considered by the Committee three times a year, following a call for funding sent to staff in the Faculty of Arts. The first call goes out at the start of the academic year, the second around Christmas, and the third in May. Awards range from funding for small workshops and reading groups to large, international conferences, as well as travel bursaries for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Awards have also been made to invite visiting speakers and to co-sponsor events outside Bristol that encourage Bristol participation, or lead to follow-up events in Bristol.

Applicants may request examples of previous, successful bids. Successful applicants are required to write a report for the Institute’s Annual Report, which should include photos from the event.

The current deadline to apply is Monday the 27th of Octoberat midday. Applications should be sent by email to artf-igrct@bristol.ac.uk.
